How we grade a signal

Every call comes with our own percentage: how often we think it lands. The grade is the band that percentage falls in. The ledger on the home page checks whether each band lands as often as we said.

How we mark a call

• Calls are settled on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalties don't count.
• The official result and the official scorers decide it. Own goals don't count towards a player's goals.
• Player numbers (shots, saves, tackles and so on) are settled from the source named in that game's note.
• If a call names a player who doesn't start, the call is void. It stays on the ledger but doesn't count as a hit or a miss.
• Calls about a player are only made once the official team sheets are out.
• If a game is abandoned or postponed, its calls are void.
• These rules apply from Matchweek 9 onwards. Matchweek 8 calls had no percentages: they stay exactly as they were marked and are measured against our old targets (8 in 10, 2 in 3, just over half and 1 in 3).
